My mother always taught me about the importance of writing a traditional thank you note. She spent hours writing her formal notes and some of my fondest memories are of watching her at her desk, Tiffany pen in hand sifting through stacks of beautiful papers. It will always make sense to me to find a way to properly communicate my gratitude but sadly and perhaps by necessity, paper has become almost obsolete. The processes used to make beautiful writing stock are completely hazardous to our environment, a fact that I’d rather not ignore. Every time you choose to communicate electronically another tree and quite a lot of our precious water supply is saved.
Because I LOVE to break the rules , I’ve chosen to not to buck tradition but be constantly on the lookout for wonderful ways to express myself online. No, my mother would not approve, but I think that even she would rather me handle my correspondence this way then not at all!
By this time, I thought that I had exhausted most of the online stationary sites but today I was turned onto a wonderful company called Paperless Post! I received a beautiful invitation through my email to attend a picnic for The Cleveland Orchestra and the invitation was beautifully customized. You clicked on the envelope and up came the invitation, another click and there was the RSVP card. It was impressively done and completely easy to use!
All of Paperless Post's invitations and announcements are beautiful, with the look and feel of a traditional Cranes cardstock complete with gorgeous colors and beautiful fonts. You pay for “stamps” and you can customize them all you want, from logos to pictures. The cost per “stamp “ is a fraction of what regular post would cost and the quality is amazing. As someone who spent their entire life working with brides I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I think that this is a perfect way to write your notes. No, your mother's NOT going to approve, however she won't be embarrassed the next time that she runs into her very best friend who will be singing your praises because she got your very stylish note right away and Bab's daughter is still putting off writing her notes because she knows that she's got a year and has better things to do with her brand new husband anyway:)
