Dorothy Draper was an amazing interior designer, thoroughly ahead of her time and like her good friends Elsie de Wolfe and Diana Vreeland an iconic presence in the world of high fashion. This book, back in print after so many years was originally published in 1941 and remains one of my entertaining Bibles. Because she was an interior designer, her ability to lay out living spaces for entertaining is a remarkable addition to the book, because she really understood how to create beautiful spaces that were lovely to look at yet completely functional to use. Her suggestions for creating fabulous parties are as completely relevant today as they were when she originally wrote them, proving that elegance and good taste are totally timeless.
